Grenoble

Grenoble, at the gateway to the Alps, is definitely worth a visit, whether for a tourist, cultural or sporting stay.
With mountains as far as the eye can see: the city is surrounded by three massifs (Vercors, Chartreuse, Belledonne) and breathtaking panoramas accessible from the city itself (as from the Bastille), Grenoble is ideal for hiking, skiing, mountain biking, or simply breathing in the alpine air.
Take the Bastille cable car, with its iconic round cabins, for incredible views of Grenoble or visit the Bastille Fort, which offers trails, exhibits, caves to explore, and even a via ferrata.
Grenoble also boasts an astonishing cultural wealth with the Musée de Grenoble, one of the best provincial art museums, with works by Monet, Picasso, Matisse, etc., and the Musée de la Résistance, Musée d'Histoire Naturelle, and Musée archeologique Saint-Laurent.
Explore Grenoble's rich history by strolling through the city, which was first Gallo-Roman (formerly called Cularo) and then medieval, or on historical walks through the old town center, with its cobbled streets and lively squares.
You will particularly appreciate the local gastronomy with Dauphiné specialties: gratin dauphinois, AOP Grenoble walnuts, Bleu du Vercors-Sassenage… and the wines of Savoie and the Rhône.
